. this is the 10:00 news on ktvu channel 2. >> rising waters are threatening property in the north bay as flood warnings go up and authorities caution residents to be prepared for the worst. >> good evening, i'm ken wayne. >> good evening, i'm maureen naylor, heather holmes is off tonight we're on storm watch. we have team camera tonight. meteorologist mark tamayo will detail when the next storm will hit and we begin with ktvu's lorraine lorraine blanco live in napa. >> reporter: the flood warning runs through the night and so does the sandbag operation. city workers say residents have filled 40,000 tons of sand. near the napa river many spent is their saturday blocking openings in case the river overflows its bank. as for downtown, city leaders tell us napas a years long project is two-thirds complete and believe those measures will protect the area. >> we're looking at our modeling and our flood project improvements and we're anticipating that what we have done to protect the community from flooding will keep the river in its banks within the city based on the projections of rainfall amoun

tomorrow is to dig the debris out of the creek and secure the hole. we are live in lafayette. ktvu channel 2 news. >> meantime, in pittsburg, people on the scene said there were more than 2 dozen motorists that ended up with nat tires after hitting the pothole, including a family that were on their way to see the raiders game. >> we hit a pothole and our air bags went off. so i got out to check the tires and they were blown. >> cal transsent out a crew to re-- caltrans sent out a crew to repair the road. >>> we are live to see the damage the floodwaters left behind. >> healthyy, the mobile homes behind me are surrounded by the creek. and, when the water rises the residents are left with little else to do but wait. >>> i got my mom out. i took her down to a friend's house down the street. you never know with water like this what it is going to do. >> these homes in a flood zone are a mile from sixx flags and off of i-80 neighbors were pumping water out of under their homes. they watched the water seep before it went in his unit. >> the way the skirting is built i did not get too much damage

will this storm last and how much rain will actually fall. john sasaki, ktvu news. >> and live storm tracker 2 is showing an increase in the rainfall across parts of the bay area. that trend will continue in the next couple of hours. you can see the live doppler sweep and reports of rainfall. san francisco, oakland, san mateo, palo alto and the fremont area. here we go significant rainfall. heavier down the creek. as far as the expectations with this system the second storm system moves through the night. a wind advisory and high surf advisory kicks in tomorrow. here is the forecast model it is speeding up the timing a little bit. this is a change. we could be talking about heavy rain as early as friday morning. that's a recent change with this rainfall forecast model. coming up and we'll take a look at pretty impressive rainfall expected with this system and another one that will move in just in time for your weekend. >>> people who live in the santa cruz mountains take a close look at the trees as they see high winds moving in. the cruz family has been keeping a close eye at this rotted tree

are not reporting delays. patty lee, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> we have is late word that just about 20 minutes ago 2,000 customers are without power in the bay area. the bulk of the outragees are in the north and east bay and in the santa cruz mountains. they tell us 100,000 customers lost power in the bay area at one point during the storm. k it tvu has more storm watch coverage for you -- ktvu has more storm watch coverage for you. you will be able to view the radar. >>> we are following developing news in oakland where a shopping mall was evacuated for more than two hours because of a suspicious package. we were over the air as the bomb squad investigated. the oakland police say after 4:30 a security guard noticed a package. the mall has a mcdonald's and other restaurants and businesses there. nearby streets were shutdown and we just learned the scene was cleared 30 minutes ago. no word about the package. >>> the police are working to find out the identity of the person found dead in a house fire. by the time the firefighters got there the cabin was almost destroyed. the firefighters were moppin
